CELLULITE

Between 85% and 95% of post-pubescent females display some degree of cellulite.  It is prevalent in women of all races.  There seems to be a hormonal connection to cellulite as it is rarely seen in males.  Cellulite is not related to being overweight as average and underweight people also get cellulite.

Cellulite is a combination of fat, connective tissue surrounded by fluids.  It is held in place by a network of fibers and is located in the subcutaneous layer that is above the reserve fat layer putting it closer to the outer layer of skin known as the dermis and epidermis.

In addition to an imbalance of hormones,
there are several other causes for cellulite:

  • Lack of Exercise
  • Insufficient Water Intake
  • Poor Eating Habits
  • Pollution
  • Hereditary factors
  • Poor Circulation

When the body's waste removal starts to fail, waste products start building up, and the connective tissue becomes saturated with liquid which thickens and hardens forming hard pockets that puff up to produce the "orange peel" or "cottage cheese" appearance known as cellulite.

Both the Endermologie® and the Arasys III Inch loss system work to increase circulation, improve lymphatic drainage and soften the hardened pockets of fat lessening the appearance of cellulite.  With a proper diet and exercise program, the success rate improves dramatically.  Even patients who are post liposuction can benefit from Endermologie® and the Arasys III because liposuction removes the fat from the reserve level only not at the subcutaneous level where the cellulite is.  Both procedures are also used to help smooth out the skin in cases where too much fat has been removed during the liposuction procedure which leaves dents or pocket in the skin.
